With Your Support, Deserving Teachers can become iEARN Members!
Dear Friend of iEARN-USA,
I’ve watched the International Education and Resource Network (iEARN) transform the lives of educators and young people for more than 22 years.
It’s hard to know who has benefited more—iEARN teachers who have flourished with international friendships, recognition, graduate degrees and a deep satisfaction that they are making a difference in the world, or their students, whose views of “others”shifts.
Recently, as a volunteer teacher at César Chavez Prep, a public charter middle school in Washington DC, I’ve watched my students blossom.
Thanks to iEARN’s online Collaboration Centre, where 50,000 K-12 teachers from 140 countries are registered, my classes have worked on projects ranging from film-making about soccer with one class of special-needs students in Brasília, to flying kites with messages of hope with hundreds of students from around the world on the March equinox—including some children from countries with tensions between their governments.
Almost since my beginning with iEARN, when I was the Intranet editor at National Geographic, I’ve purchased a Collaboration Centre membership ($100) to give away to an interested teacher I might meet. It is a small price for all that iEARN offers. Yet with school budget cuts, it is beyond the reach of many U.S. educators and their students.
To help, iEARN-USA is launching a campaign to raise $25,000 to give scholarships to deserving U.S. teachers.
Your tax-deductible gift will give U.S. teachers membership in iEARN's online Collaboration Centre and the opportunity to engage their students in educational projects with classrooms around the world.
Educator, Washington DC.
