UN Millenium Campaign

iEARN and UN Millennium Campaign Partnership

In the year 2000, world leaders agreed on a historic road map to end extreme poverty by 2015. Their agreement was called the Millennium Development Goals, an 8-point action plan that would send all boys and girls to school, promote gender equality, protect our environment, and provide healthy living conditions to the billions living in poverty, all by 2015. For the first time in history the world agreed on the best method to make poverty history.

Despite the important of the MDGs, most people are unaware of their government’s promise to end poverty by 2015. To help spread awareness, the United Nations Millennium Campaign has developed a teacher’s guide on how to easily adapt international poverty issues into existing curriculum.  IEARN is partnering with the UN Millennium Campaign to get this 300 page resource into classrooms throughout the US and other countries.

Designed for students aged 14-18, the lessons plans are separated by curriculum subjects (math, science, geography, language arts, social studies, etc.) with easily understandable and quickly accessible background information.

If you are interested in the lessons plans please download or for a print copy please email with your address.  This resource is very helpful in iEARN Projects dealing with the issues of the MDGs.  Visit iEARN Projects.
