"(It)was an experience of lifetime for me, I could not believe that (so many) people from 62 different nations are all together sharing the same purpose that is to bring piece, love and safety to the globe. I forgot the geographical boundaries, the fact that we speak different language or that we are of different race, colour or follow different traditions I just remembered that we are "WE" and "TOGETHER with a "COMMON CAUSE" that we can "MAKE A DIFFERENCE" in the world. That moment I have undergone an internal transformation not easy to describe but as a result I feel differently towards the globe."

-Farah S. Kamal, iEARN Coordinator-Pakistan

" ... it is so VERY hard to be anything but OVERWHELMED about MY experience! I read, I look at pictures, I REMEMBER and I read these wonderful, wonderful diaries of others and I think how fortunate WE have been to be in such a mind-altering, life changing experience. THANKS!"

-James C. Randolph, USA

iEARN Conferences

In addition to the discussions and collaboration that happens online in iEARN throughout the year, iEARN teachers and coordinators also hosts local, regional and international gatherings throughout the year. Check iEARN Web site Web link for updates, and/or write to iearn@iearn.org for suggestions about hosting such events.

The largest of these gatherings is the Annual International iEARN Conference each July, which typically brings together teachers and students from over 70 countries. This conference, open to all, allows teachers and students to identify new partners from other countries, learn about practical examples of technology and project-based learning in education in other countries, and deepen their awareness of global issues.

Hello everyone!
Maybe you remember me. My name is Barbara. I am from St.Petersburg, Russia.

I would like to tell you all my feelings about this conference that took place in Moscow. I was at the iEARN conference for the first time. For one and half a year our school is involved in iEARN. All that time I knew that this is a big organization with a lot of interesting and interested people. I supposed that the Moscow conference would be very interesting, usefull and that I would knew a lot of new people there. But I really did not expected that it would be so GREAT! I have never seen so much people from so many different countries all over the world i one place. 500 persons. But the biggest surprise was that all that people were friends to you. Do you remember that woman, a teacher from America. The first day on the openning ceremony she said that everyone could come to here and hug her. Because she liked to hug so much! It was really fun! But very little time later I understood that all people in that hall were so friendly. During all the week I saw only smiles around me. I could come to everyone and say: "Hi! How are you? How do you like Moscow? I am from Sain Petersburg." And persons smiled and we began to talk. And next day or even few time later I was passing by that person and he or she waved me like an old friend and smiled. After the first day of workshops we went for a walk by Moscow. We went to the Red Square. Suddenly we saw a group of people with green iEARN bags. We did not know that but we stoped and just said: "Hello!". And the chienese students and their teachers also stoped and answered: "Hi!" that was the beginning of the talk. Just three days ago we said good bye to each other. They were in St.Petersburg after the conference and we waved them good buy at the railway station. Now I have friends in China. How can I blame chienese people for anything? How can I hate them? How can I go with war on them? I have friends in China. Thank you iEARN!

When we came to the Cosmos Hotel firstly we saw the poster: "Moscow welcomes iEARN family". That first day I supposed that it is just a poster so everybody knew that the conference took place there. But seven days later, after a week of parties, ceremonies, workshops, changing of visit cards, I left Cosmos Hotel and looked once again on the same poster. That time I understood that there are not only words. I had a great feeling that I was included to this not big as I thought firstly, but huge family. It was a big shock for me to knew that so many people all around the world do the same work as we do in our school. It was a great surprise to see that these people really did some difference in this world. It was unbelievable to understand that they would not like to stop at this point. So, thank for all of you who attended Moscow conference and who invited us in this huge and kind multicultural family! ...Thank all of you, the members of the huge iEARN family! Thank you for letting us to be a part of your family! Thank you for showing us iEARN!
Let's work together and maybe we will cange the world. Now I believe that it could be. Thank you for giving me a chance to believe! THANK YOU!

Barbara Lialiagina, coordinator of international projects, and other participants of delegation of school "Epigraph", St.Petersburg, Russia
